Tell the story of the fault
Ice production depends on both water delivery and suitable operating temperatures. Replacing the ice maker without checking those conditions can miss the cause.
A leak may occur during fill, harvest or another part of operation. Its timing is useful information for the technician.
A short sequence helps: what you selected, what the appliance did, and when it stopped behaving normally. There is no need to recreate an unsafe fault.

A useful detail for this request
For a sudden stop, mention whether the refrigerator or freezer also changed performance. Ice production depends on operating conditions as well as the mechanism.
Common reasons to arrange diagnosis
- Cubes are unusually small or incomplete.
- Water appears around the ice-making area.
- Ice clumps repeatedly in the bin.
- The mechanism cycles without delivering ice.
- Ice production has slowed or stopped.
Until the appliance is inspected
If water is actively leaking, stop use and close a clearly identified, safely accessible appliance water valve if you can do so without moving equipment. Do not bypass a switch or reach into a moving mechanism.
What inspection needs to establish
Testing is adapted to the appliance and reported behavior. The items below guide the inspection; they are not a promise that a particular component needs replacement.
- Water delivery and visible connections
- Operating temperature and ice-making conditions
- Fill, harvest and control behavior
- Leaks and drainage appropriate to the configuration
From request to an agreed repair
Start with the appliance and a concise description of the fault. Availability and safe access are confirmed before the visit; diagnosis then leads to a repair proposal you can approve.
The diagnostic/service call is $95 and is credited toward an approved repair. An itemized repair price is agreed after diagnosis and before work. Genuine OEM parts are used. Same-day and emergency appointments depend on schedule and location.
Parts, warranty and scope
1-Year Parts & Labor Warranty covers parts installed and labor performed under normal use. It excludes new unrelated faults, misuse, power surges and work performed by others after the service visit.
Genuine OEM parts are used. Refrigerant and sealed-system work is performed by an EPA-certified technician. This is independent service, with no claim of manufacturer endorsement.
Helpful answers
Before you arrange service
Do small cubes prove the water valve is bad?
No. Water delivery, temperature and control behavior need to be checked together before choosing a repair.
What should I put in the request?
State whether the ice maker is a separate appliance or inside a refrigerator, whether any ice is produced, and when the issue started.
Is an ice dispenser jam the same as an ice maker failure?
No. The bin and dispenser may have a problem even when ice production is normal. Describe which part of the process stops.
